California’s qualifying conditions include the following for medical marijuana use:

How much medical marijuana are you legally allowed to possess?

According to the Health and Safety Code Section 11362.77, a patient or primary caregiver is allowed to possess 8 ounces of dried cannabis at any given time. They can also maintain or cultivate 6 mature marijuana plants or 12 immature marijuana plants in addition to the dried marijuana.

How can I consume medical marijuana?

Where can I smoke my medical marijuana?

If you live in a state with medical marijuana, a private residence is generally acceptable. Other states vary on different locations. Typical places where medical marijuana cannot be consumed include:

  • Within 1000 feet of a school, recreation or youth center
  • Federal land, such as national parks, forests, monuments, etc.
  • No Smoking zones
  • School Buses

Can I travel with my medical cannabis?

Most airports may not permit you to carry your medical marijuana on your flight. Please remember that national parks, national forests, monuments, etc. are all subjected to the federal law. Hence, possession or use of medical marijuana on this land – even with a valid recommendation – can potentially lead to arrest.
