The Weed for Warriors Project has partnered with PrestoDoctor to provide medical cannabis recommendations to qualifying veterans.
The Weed for Warriors Project was launched by an OEF United States Marine Corps Veteran who understood the benefits of medical marijuana as a tool for relief from his service-related disabilities. Through its collaboration with organizations like Santa Cruz Veterans Alliance, the Weed for Warriors Project offers local veterans pertinent information about medical marijuana and connects them with other like-minded veterans in the cannabis community. These veterans are also provided with safe access to medicine with a proof of service.
Helping Veterans Around The Country
This initiative currently has chapters in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington, with the hope of eventually expanding to all 50 states. According to the Weed for Warriors website, veterans make up 7% of the entire U.S. population and 20% of the nation’s suicide rate.
The mission of the Weed for Warriors Project is to offer an alternative to the harsh, addictive pharmaceutical drugs that are usually prescribed to veterans to aid with their rehabilitation. “Cannabis has been proven to help with PTSD, cancer, chronic pain, sleep disorders, Crohn’s disease, migraines, addiction withdrawal and has statistically lowered the suicide rate in states where it is legal.”
The ultimate goal is simply to allow veterans the option to openly discuss medical cannabis as a treatment possibility with their VA doctors.
